preventive nutrition counseling
Want to hear some really great news?? The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires that (most) health plans provide coverage for preventive care services at no additional cost to its members.
What this means to you is that under the ACA, certain insurance (not all) carriers offer cost-FREE (i.e no co-payment) nutrition counseling visits when you meet with an in-network, registered dietitian (like me!).
The following carriers have specified their criteria for no cost-sharing. Hover over the links to bring you to their websites if you want to read about their specific benefits and if they apply to your health concerns.
-
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (offers 6 visits a year)
-
Harvard Pilgrim Health Care (offers unlimited visits for a diagnosis of obesity; general counseling)

It’s always best to check with your individual carriers to confirm their benefit plan.
